Zoloft question

I started on 25mg of Zoloft for 2 weeks then upped to 50mg 1 week ago.
How long do the side effects last after increasing it? I've had a sick stomach and increase in my anxiety.I've also had a lot of pressure and lightheadedness in my head. I suffer from both anxiety and depression. I also take lorazepam for the anxiety. I want to stop when the Zoloft starts working.
How long does it take to kick in and my side effects go away? I'm so tired of feeling like crap! I want to feel normal again.
Any responses are greatly appreciated.

Re: Zoloft question

Hi Brando ~ Do you take the Zoloft with food? I know that if I take Zoloft on an empty stomach I get nauseous. So, I'd make sure you eat something when you take it.

You've been on it for 3 weeks? The side effects should have stopped by now, IMO. Check with your doctor, I'm thinking? If the side effects are hard to deal with, it might be worth it to try something else?

Hang in there, k? Hugs ~ Sly

Re: Zoloft question

When I started the side effects lasted at least six weeks and the dosage was not pushed past 25 mg's. Never went up to 50mg's due to the side effects.

When I started in 1998 the doctor originally prescribed 25 mg to start then to 50 mg after two days. When I took the 1st pill I felt like I was going to jump out of my skin. Within days there was severe nausea and numb feelings. It took about six weeks for my stomach [nausea] to stop. The doctor then tried to get me to increase the dose. We made it up to 37.5 mg's but the nausea was bad again, along with severe anxiety. We backed down to 25 mg's and stayed there for about six years. I was initially treated for PTSD, not depression. The medicine helped but through the years the weight gain became too much, I went from about 200 pounds to 280 pounds, etc.

I tried to discontinue the zoloft several years ago and had big problems.
Search my old posts --- none of this is meant to scare you. If your side effects continue past 6 - 8 weeks, tell your doctor. Good luck.
