Re: How does group therapy work?
It differs a little from group to group. Most group has a designated leader sometimes a shrink will lead the group and all they do is keep the talking going and tries to ensure everyone stays on point. A group works a lot like these boards you have one topic and everyone shares their views and experiences. You decide how much you want to contribute. Most groups are pretty specialized. If its a depression group the topic can vary from triggers to doctors to coping techniques to family support to whatever. There are groups where everyone starts at the same time and then they slowly work their way through the subject. Some groups have homework and the next discussion could be based on that, I always found the person leading the group will determine how good the group is. A group can be very benificial for some people. I am terrible in groups as I have a massive trust issue and would never open up. Sorry this was so scattered my brain is racing
