You should talk to your doc for suggestions, too. Some ADs are considered more sedating while others are more stimulating. I believe Lexapro is one of the "sedating" types, and thus, why it is usually effective for anxiety.

When i take lexapro in the morning i practically fall asleep driving to work and want to sleep all day. I take it at night now and im not as tired during the day. I would still love to take a nap as im still tired, but just not AS tired...It is very frustrating though!!
A short while ago I was sleeping for 12 hour periods or longer for weeks at a time and the meds I was taking did nothing. A month ago I started Wellbutrin, my dr. said it would give me energy and it has, so far I'm back to a more normal sleeping routine 8 to 10 hours. Prozac didn't cause me tiredness either. Talk to your dr. and hopefully you will find what works for you!
Thanks so much to all that replied. I greatly appreciate your willingness to share information. Lexapro is the first A/D I have ever taken for depression. I have never been depressed before but have been now for about a year and have decided I need to do something.
I did in the past try Effexor (but I was being treated for headaches, not depression) and I just remember it make me YAWN, YAWN constantly, but I know all meds effect people differently.
I am extremely sensitive to meds, but am determined to get this depression under control.
Thank you for your post. The doctors are doing all sorts of medical tests to find out why I have NO energy, No motivation, and sleep 12 hours a day. My psychiatrist feels it is depression and wants me to start Wellbutrin in addition to paxil to give me a lift. I got scared when I saw the seizure side effects and did not start it yet. I am also waiting for the medical tests to come back. My best friend insists the fatigue is due top all the meds I am on.
