Do a search. you will find tons of info on depression. Apparently its very common and treatment varies.

I tried to get through Major depression with just talking with a counselor. Its not enough. I had to go on meds. Its NOT something that we can just "snap out of" or ''get over it". its an illness that needs treatment.

Re: Depression

I agree with Mokie. My husband has been very supportive of my illness over the years. He knows that I'm a tough person so when I'm down he makes an effort to hug me more and stuff like that. It doesn't make it go away but it does help me some. He also asks me to do things with him that he knows I enjoy - like going to play darts or pool. Again it doesn't make it go away because it is not dependent on anyone. All these suggestions do are to help the person incorporate some moments of joy during there sad times.
