Depression Treatment For Years and New Discovery (Advice Please)
Hey there,
I have been a member on this board for years and over the last 2 years, I have been visiting asking for advice. I have a good life and have been working through issue via therapy (who said that I did not fit the classic case of a depressed person) and taking medicines anti-depressants, acid reflux-like, etc. However, I have still been feeling like crap.
Well, after spending lots of $'s going to my Physician Assist, Gastrologist and my Psych Dr, I finally decided to visit a Medical Internist a few weeks ago for a complete physical and the test came back that all was normal except that I have a SEVERE Vitamin D deficiency. I was floored and have done research that yielded all of the negative effects of this deficiency on the body. I was expecting the doctor to tell me to get supplement at a health food store but was advised that I needed a medical prescription, and I am now taking 50,000IU of Vitamin D weekly and have a follow-up visit on Monday for retest.
I take my 4th pill in 3 days and I must say that I am feeling stronger and brighter.
By the way, I always thought milk agrevated my allergies and I was severely burned in the sun 20 years ago (never laid out again). Also, I am dark-skinned, so I have bascially been obtaining no Vitamin D for many years now.
My issue is that I take 10mg of Lexapro in the morning and after I take it is when I feel the worst. Could it be possible that I no longer need the Lexapro since I have now found that I have an underlying medical issue, or that I am overloading my body with something that I don't need. I did drop from 20mg to 10mg last week because it made me so tired during the mid-morning.
Any comments would be appreciated.
Regards,
