Can Periods Impact Depression?

Right before I have my period, my head seems to fill with illogical thoughts and I become deeply depressed. Is it just me, or is my period impacting my mood?

Re: Can Periods Impact Depression?

Yes, it could just be a hormonal thing. How do you feel the rest of the month?

yes it definitely can affect it. i get really depressed right before my period. well im generally depressed, but become super depressed right before period. it might be pmdd. when i took yaz, it balanced out my hormones and i felt better, but the other side effects sucked.

Re: Can Periods Impact Depression?

Sure, PMS and Prementrual depression are VERY common. Some experts say that you can reduce it by diet, but for me, chocolate is the only thing food that seems to help. Some antidepressants help, but they have other side effects too. You can find a lot of tips online.

It helps to KNOW that it's hormonal and temporary. Otherwise you start to blame situations and people in your life that are innocent. Keep your head and don't take it out on other people.
