From what I have learned and experienced anti-depressants do not give you a boost. Without getting technical they stabilize the release and absorption of hormones which are "in charge" of emotions. So all they are doing is correcting a physiological abnormality in the brain which allows you to function as if that abnormality did not exist.
It is like a diabetic who needs insulin. When they take the insulin it does nothing except keep their body working the way it is supposed to.
Is it worth it? For me, a life saver. I would suggest talking to a psychiatrist (who is trained specifically to deal with mental and emotional disorders and the treatment thereof).
There are a lot of medications out there to treat depression and there might be one that is safe to take while pregnant. Again I would like to stress that it is important to go to the right source to get the right information.
