Is it acceptable to make an appointment with a GP and tell him/her about anxiety/depression problems and expect something to be prescribed? I don't like seeing psychs because it is embarressing to go to the pysch branch parts of buildings and then you start getting weird looks +they cost more. I want Xanax, or an antidepressent that's not Zoloft. Would GP go for something along these lines w/ a first meeting?
I kind of had in mind what I would like to try, when I finally got the nerve to ask my doctor. I took hubby with me and I told the doctor I wasn't very happy and hubby pipped up and said that he was starting to watch for flying dishes in the mornings. My GP said no problem and I got a low dose of effexer and it is working wonderfully for me. In 3 days I move up to 75 mg. and that is where I will stay. Thats just me though. I have been treated for fybromyalgia and rheumatoid arthritus and my depression stems from this. You may do well with something different.
