Getting off antidepressants question?

i have tried most antidepressants and nothing worked very well and i didnt like the side effects of them. I am currently on 300mg of WellbutrinXL and called the doc to wean down and she is going to see me in aweek or so. How does the doctor wean you off the medicine is it a quick process or no? Ijust feel better but weird too on it and lots of side effects.

Re: Getting off antidepressants question?

Wellbutrin is not a hard med to come off. The two times I took this, I stopped cold turkey after being on it for 2 mo. the first time and 6 mo. the second time. The dr. told me it was ok to stop suddenly, but told me I could wean if I wanted to. I decided to just stop and noticed no major negative side effects. Cymbalta, on the other hand, well, not such a good idea to do that one cold turkey. I've heard effexor is rough, too. Wellbutrin is not bad, though, in my opinion. See your doctor and do what you feel comfortable with.

Good luck!!

Re: Getting off antidepressants question?

sorry i have been busy not online this week much. The doctor needed to see me so my appt is in a week. I needed a refill so she gave me 5 refills Its almost like the doc is gonna tell me to stay on the meds, can they really do that? She is persistant about me going on meds and i have tried but do better with none and find other ways so i can feel better, but i do feel better too thats the thing. Plus i feel really strange on wellbutrin, i am actually on a generic.
