What helps you?

Hello everybody, I have been suffering from depression for a few years now and I have tried many things to get rid of it but I just can't seem to get any relief. I was wondering what has helped you? If could be medication, vitamins, supplements, herbs, therapies, anything. I am willing to try anything at this point. I just want to feel like my old self.

Re: What helps you?

For me, what helped and helps is:
1. taking lexapro and buspar
2. reading good self help books
3. journaling
4. exercising
5. family and friends

Re: What helps you?

exercise (even just going for a walk). a good diet, therapy and being honest with myself and my loved ones. If I am having a bad day then I have had to learn to be fair and forgive myself, we are allowed to have bad days and I find that if I confide in my husband or a friend then they can often talk me through it and it helps...
Take care

Re: What helps you?

I get down quite often and the only way I get out of it is to be mentally strong by telling myself 'enough is enough' taking a deep breath and taking almost a military attitude, taking a positive attitude to sort out what is my worry or just to change my state of mind, if you understand me....

Good mood food is also foods good for the brains such as lots of Oily fish, omega 3 6 & 9, and green veg....

hope this helps let me know how you get on....

sounds strange but try saying to yourself everday...

I'm sorry, I love you, please forgive me, thankyou and think of yourself when you do it...this is a method the hawaiians take to cleanse themselves called ho'oponoono and anything else that bothers them around their world...you just need to think of the offending thing and say those words...over

Re: What helps you?

A wholesome diet, fresh fruits and veggies, juicing, whole grains, fruit sweetened cereal, low fat protein--no alcohol or caffeine. Exercise and meditation. Hiking and camping for nature and serenity.
