Effexor XR Sleep Side-effects

Hi everyone,

I had to get back onto Effexor XR after a brief hiatus. My first round with Effexor XR was two years long, and we are now reunited.

Been having some side-effects... insomnia, hearing noises in my environment while sleeping (or at least I think I am still sleeping), strange and vivid dreams, and physical sensation in my dreams. Before using Effexor a few years ago I very seldom would remember my dreams. I remember everything now because I can feel what is happening. A few nights ago I, a friend of mine in a dream put his hand on my shoulder. In my dream, I was not expecting him to be present, so the contact was kind of a shock. I could feel his hand like he was touching my real shoulder. I was startled and jumped in my dream, putting my hand on his trying to figure out who he was. At the same time I jerked around in my bed and put my hand on my shoulder. In reality there was nothing on my shoulder but my t-shirt and my hand as though I was reaching to figure out who was touching me.

The first time I used Effexor XR, the dream effects were not as severe. I am wondering why this has changed.

It is strange, I know. I have had very few other side-effects as a result of my Effexor XR use. Overall, it has been an integral part of me staying on my feet. Has anyone else experienced strange side-effects that have impacted sleep while on Effexor? Any other prescription drug? If so, how did you cope? Or did it just go away?
