I have never posted on the depression board before. I am a rheumatoid arthritus and fybromyalgia patient. Became disabled this March due to just can't work anymore. Doc has been advising it for 4 years so had no problem with recieving disability ect. I knew that once my work life was done that I would likely have to go on some sort of low dose antidepressent because I had been getting very down about this life of pain but didn't have time to be depressed. Anyway that is what I did. Doc thought it a great idea to try 37.5 effexar and increase to 75 in two weeks. I loved it. Within three days I was waking up looking forward to the day instead of crying. Hubby was sooo pleased as well. The teo weeks went by and I increased to 75. I am into week 7 now and all of a sudden somethings not right. I do nothing but sleep. I am crabby all the time I'm awake. I don't feel that depressed but I just feel bad. I don't take a lot of other prescription drugs. Methotrexate and vitamins and any painkillers I can find when needed. Mostly toradol. The painkillers are not a problem. I hate drugs that slow me down so I only take them when absolutely nessesary. Does anyone have a clue what I should do next? I do not want to go to a higher dose. I am 49 years old and have led an extremely active life untill the last few years. I have had a great life till now. I am a musician and an avid snowmobiler and outdoor person. I was so happy that the effexar was making me feel alive again after loosing the ability do do all the fun things I used to do, and now I feel myself sliding back down. This stuff is all new to me and I need some advise from those who have been there. I do not have a psych doc. I don't think we have one here. I am in the country and 100 miles from a city big enough to have anything more than GPs. My RA doc comes up once a month to see patients but thats it. Sorry this is so long Don't want to bore anyone too badly.
