Did lithium work for you for years, then stopped? Also, anyone stable on low dose?
Me again, wondering if lithium might work again. I'm tired of posting, i'm sure all of you are tired of my posts, but i have to keep trying even though i'd like to give up...it's so frustrating.
Anyone on lithium for awhile, it stopped working and then you went back on it at some point and it worked?
Also, anyone able to stay at a low dose and that worked?
Re: Did lithium work for you for years, then stopped? Also, anyone stable on low dose
I was on lithium for about 7 years, went off for several years and then went back on, I've been on 900mg a day for 3 years now. My Li levels have always been very stable, I test at or near .6 everytime. I've actually been thinking of asking my pDoc if I should up the dose to get it closer to .8 or .9. (tons of stress coming up for me, family stuff, surgery for bad joints, etc)
I think it took longer to feel the initial effects second time around but it's worked just as well.

Hi Salty. Dont be tired of posting. We all need the advice and we learn from each others posts...
In regards to another thread that you ahve regarding lamictal, I would try lamictal before trying lithuim. All the literature seems to indicate that the side effects are less with lamictal. I'm not sure if it's an issue for you but lithium will add weight dur to fluid retention etc...
They essentially do the same thing or have I got that wrong? Anyone?

Jsfai, you are so nice. Your posts are so kind. I really need that. I want to try the lamictal again. I'm waiting to see what Sam writes about the dosage and the rest of the side effects.
Jsfai, I was asking you what you are on, but I see you have responded to my other post. I will go there.
Thank you.
Salty
