alprazolam (xanax)

My Dr has currently given me alprazolam (generic for xanax i guess) to take with my Celexa to control anxiety. I take half a pill for 2 days 3 times a day and then i take a full pill any time after that if i need it. Has anyone ever tried this alprazolam and if so, what was your experience with it? Thanks for any help!

Re: alprazolam (xanax)

I take it at night to help me sleep [45 minutes before bedtime]. I take .5. What is your dosage?

Re: alprazolam (xanax)

my dosage is half of a 0.5 pill. I can take a whole 0.5 pill if I dont respond to the half one. Does it work for you to relax you? My muscles are all tight and so I am full of anxiety .. thats why I have been given the pill.

Re: alprazolam (xanax)

Stcy, It seems to work when I take it 45 minutes before bedtime. It must relax me though I don't feel any kind of buzz or anything. I am an anxious person; uptight sometimes though I hide it pretty well. Your dose is small. It should not be a problem.

Re: alprazolam (xanax)

I used one month xanax. Now I take when I need or when I feel very bad.
My doctor sad that I should not take if I really need it.

And I noticed that it works better when I feel more depression.

When you take xanax when needed does it work well and how long does it last?

Re: alprazolam (xanax)

My first response to xanax was when I took it after threatening to commit suicide or feeling depressed and overwhelmed. It didn't help at all, what it did do was knock me out to the point when I would wake up again I would cry and have fits of no confidence to even brush my teeth then take another .5 just to sleep and wake up to do the same thing again.
I don't take it anymore for anxiety,,I am on two medications for add and insomnia,, adderal and ativan which is a benzodiazepine just like xanax,, I find that ativan makes me unenergized and lethargic throught the day and if I didn't have adderal to concentrate I would be in a world of ,, well, I won't even say,
But I do believe it is good for calming anyone down who is way too anxious,
and why shouldn't anyone be anxious,, we live day by day never knowing what tommorow will bring and always knowing what each second is asking for,
