| To ButtUgly. A kind word
Are you a criminal? Do you abuse your friends and neighbors? Have you ever found happiness in unmasking the sorrow of others? Have you ever wished bad luck upon others? Do you enjoy abandoning another living creature, leaving it to fend for itself, all the while knowing in your heart you could have helped it?
It is within us, not UPON us, that ugliness and/or beauty is found. Consider those hairless cats that are so popular these days. Why is that? It is because they are faithful and loyal companions - their beauty resides in their spirit, not in the shape of their head or quality of their skin. Yet, they continue to love their human companions with all that they have to give. And it is in "giving" and "acceptance" that we find true love and happiness.
I share this with you because someone once shared it with me a few years ago. I found great peace and solitude since then.
Finally, a poem that I often refer to cheer me up.
Love me not for comely grace,
For my pleasing eye or face,
Nor for any outward part,
No, nor for my constant heart;
For those may fail or turn to ill,
So you and I shall sever;
Keep therefore a true woman's eye,
And love me still, but know not why.
So you have the same reason still
To dote upon me forever.
