I posted a little while back about being apprehensive about Serzone because of the side effects. I got a lot of negative feedback re: Serzone but decided to forge ahead anyhow and am pleased to announce that after a week and a half and an increased dosage, I am no longer experiencing any side effects worth mentioning. I get a little clumsy and dizzy, but I only take my Serzone at night so that's really not a problem. I hope that anyone else who may have been discouraged may find some encouragement through my experience. I am not yet noticing any of the benficial effects of the drug, although, it is a positive feeling just to know that I am doing something for myself. I'll keep everyone posted! Thanks to those of you who responded to my prior post because they really helped me with my decision to give it a fair shot.
I took Serzone for 4 weeks and had no real side effects, only insomnia [trying to fall asleep when I went to bed was impossible]. I increased my dose gradually from 100 mg a day in 2 doses up to 500 mg a day at the end. I had crying jags, and did not find this med to help me, but you might be lucky with it. I am on Zoloft now and feel a bit better [only on it 11 days]. I wish you success on Serzone.

I'm new here and just read your post. I'm glad to see a positive post about Serzone. I've been very nervous about taking this . My Dr wants to switch me over to Serzone from Prozac. I'm still not sure if I should start. Have you noticed any weight gain being on Serzone?
Hi.. Gee.. It was my understanding that the meds Serzone and Remeron had the least amount of side effects.. I'm certain that Serzone is not know to cause weight gain, where Remeron is famous for putting on the pounds.. I have a friend on Serzone and he loves it and has not gained a pound, nor, is he constantly starved! I take Remeron, and, until I got it under control, I ate everything in sight!
Anyway.. GoodLuck on the Serzone, it's helped so many and I'm sure once your system adjusts to it, you'll find it a very good med..
Hi All <IMG SRC="http://members.theglobe.com/ultrasoft1/gx/waverx.gif">
Actually Serzone is one of the very least infamous anti-depressants in terms of side effects. Comparatively to so many (especially the SSRI series and the Tricyclics), there are very few side effects. When it compares to say a Prozac or Paxil, the results are very very favorable.
One being (as you said panzee), no effect on weight or appetite. Another, of great importance, no loss of normal libido.
Naturally that's not to say it will be the perfect med for any one person, but it could be.
Remeron has the effect of possible weight gain and is a bit milder, but besides that it is much the same as Serzone in the favorable respect of potential side effects. Yet both enjoy very strong track records of successes.
So either I would recommended, even to include Wellbutrin, (if toleration is okay), none of which are in the SSRI group or related.
Naturally no meds at all is hard to beat. But if we are stuck with them, these are pretty good ones.
I've been on serzone for a few weeks. whenever I increase my dosage I get insomnia and anxiety. had crying spurts too and I never ever cry which is weird. No other side effects. starting to feel better. Just hoping it helps alleviate my anxiety and sex problems. anyone that can relate please write back...
Well, I got crazy on the Serzone and then coming off it. Wanted to kill myself w/ anxiety and insomnia. Now I'm back on paxil and starting to feel better and will just have to work on the sexual problems. I'm going to start buspar for this. Anyone have experiences because not only do I have no libido, but I have terrible anxiety about sex in general. Any beautiful young women that want to help me w/ this problem, write back :-)
