combining Paxil with Rivitrol

I have a very close friend who struggles with severe depression. He is 17 and has been struggling with depression for 2 years. He has been on paxil for about 6 wks now, and has since started taking rivitrol (sp?) for anxiety.. he has done this combination in the past, and the results haven't been good. Has anyone ever heard of or experienced the combination of rivitrol with an anti-depressant causing psychotic symptoms?

I've used this board in the past, though it's been awhile now.. I'm glad to have it here cause there are times when you just can't talk to the people around you. It's nice to have this support!!

Thanks <IMG SRC="http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif">

Re: combining Paxil with Rivitrol

Hey Friend,
I have not myself. But taking more than one drug can have very different results in people. One drug can have different results.
I am glad you are concerned and hope that things work out. Here is a site for drug info. <A HREF="http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginformation.html" TARGET=_blank>http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginformation.html</A>

Re: combining Paxil with Rivitrol

Thanks TrickyDick.. that site has been a help already! Clonazepam is the proper name for rivitril, which falls under Benzodiazepines.. or so I've just found out!
