I need hope that the prozac I've been on (upped to 60 mg. 10 days ago) will work for me. I know this isn't possible to know for sure, but I sure could use some success stories.

I was on Prozac for the past 20 years. I stopped a few times to try Paxil, Cymbalta and then no meds at all and I always went back to it.
Currently though, I'm starting Pristiq which I'm hoping will kick start me where Prozac has left off! I think my body just needs something different but honestly, I am a big believer in Prozac. It literally saved me at times where I don't think anything else would've.
Good luck and hope it all works out for you!!

THank you for the reply. I have been on Prozac, starting at 20 mg 7 weeks ago and upped to 60 2 1/2 weeks ago. Last Sat. night, I felt like the Prozac kicked in, but today I feel the depression is back. I'm so disappointed. I've been on Paxil (was on that for almost 18 yrs.), but it seemed to quit working. I then was on Celexa for a couple years and same thing happened. While I've had some big stresses lately, I got through other ones okay before. I'm taking Ativan (.5 three times a day, which I don't like to do, but ...) I see the med. person next week. In your opinion, have I waited long enough or do I need to give Prozac more time? Hope you can write back.

Some people it actually takes longer than the usual 2-3 weeks to kick in. Maybe the doc can either up the dosage or add something to it. My doc, when the Prozac seemed to be decreased in effectiveness, added Abilify which I hear works great with prozac BUT I didn't want to take it.
In my experience, I would stick with it and maybe even increase to 80mg...
Hope it works! Keep me updated!

I've been having trouble with waking up every hr or so but last night I took 3 benedryl and got some good sleep. Today I feel quite good--a good night's sleep helped. I'm already taking 2 mg. of Abilify with the Prozac. I doubt that the med nurse specialist will up the Prozac but I see her on Wed. and we shall see. I'm still confused when I can have a quite normal day and then have a bad one. What does that mean, do you think? That the Prozac isn't working, really? I doubt I could have these normal moments if it wasn't doing some good. But if I have another down day, I feel like it's not. Maybe a few more days will help. Thanks for your input and I hope YOU are having a good day.

I'm on pozac 40mg. I find it helps, but I have other issues that play factors, such as voices and anxiety and stuff. Those meds are sorta working (I'm thinking talking out loud to a voice in my head isn't a great sign) but the one med he will not be allowed to change without good reason is my prozac.
