pill.

The prozac is helping with my depression. But not my ocd, which is the main reason i think i am as depressed as i am. It seems the answer is more pills. I'm in my 20's and i have a shelf of pills. Don't doctors think that's depressing in itself? I feel foggy and downagain.

Re: pill.

I understand. While I am glad you are finding the prozac to be helping with your depression, you likely still need other treatment for the underlying OCD. One type of treatment that has been found to be very helpful in treatment of OCD is cognitive therapy. It may of may not be combined with medication, but it is another form of therapy that re teaches our mind to go through the anxiety that OCD feeds off of, and learn how to go through that without the need to act on the compultions that make up OCD.

While none of us would choose to need to learn so much about ourselves to deal with our lives in a healthy manner, it is up to us to provide whatever care necessary to avoid a life full of pain and self loathing.

The more you learn about OCD and depression, the more able you will be to practice the lifestyle changes to protect yourself from OCD's strong grip.

I have other sorts of medical issues that require me to both take 17 medications daily, but also live under the very close scrutiny of several specialists, take blood tests weekly and manage many appointments every month....some quite uncomfortable.

I went through years when I was bitter about having to do all this to stay healthy while I was younger, I have learned what I have to loose if I choose not to comply with all the medical, dietary and lifestyle demands, my life can quickly become very dangerous and painful if I stop.

We have to remind our selves that we are so lucky to live in a time when so many illnesses are treatable and acceptable socially, something people of just a generation ago did not enjoy.

With a long life ahead of you, I would seek whatever help you need to balance your mood and health as best you can, however you need to do so. Find a way to incorporate what ever medication, therapy, lifestyle or attitude changes you need to make to become balanced and happy most of the time. Rather than fight it, allow it to enter your life as a part of you, and something you can control and not let get in your way.

If you do not take control of your individual challenges, they will find a way of taking control of you, and that is just not acceptable. It may take some time and some experimentation with various therapies and even medications but in the end you are well worth it!

While it can seem like everyone else has it so easy, remember, we all have our little demons inside, and are all seeking a way to live with ourselves in the happiest and most fulfilling way.

Sorry if i came off sounding whiny i was upset and tried when wrote that. Al my doctor wants me back on a med i stopped taking , because I didn't like the way i was feeling on it. So i took it, and was missed placed about it. The last year in ahalf has been my start on meds. And i don't think i had a good attitude going in. I goon and off them constantly. Withdrawaling from it, then back on them again. And feeling undecided, i apologize. Thank you for your encouragement. I will just have get use to it and stop going on and off......

Re: pill.

Oh no, I did not think of anything you said as whiny or anything close to that.

From all I wrote about, you can tell i have gone through lots of ups and downs with medication too. There is no easy answer, and each of us have to find our place with the meds.

I did not mean to overstep my bounds in my reply either. Sometimes I look back at the things I write later on, and I realize maybe I was writing an answer for myself on the same question.

I learn a lot about myself when posting to others. This time I learned I talk too much!

Cheers

Honestly, sometime i think i come off as rude ......
I'm sorry. That's not what i meant. At all. I understand that we both have meds likes and dislikes. I enjoy hearing from people who have more experience, then myself. I really don't what I'm going through with the meds. I already stopped taking the one med. The doctor is going to be on me.
