An 'attack' of something last night; can you help? - Diabetes Message Board

I am 31 (just turned); female; who is in very good health. Haven't been to the doc for several years (no need); and I take NO OTC medicine; apart from a vitamin regimine that I take every morning.

However; I have had the spells come on; starting probably mid last year.

And the CHIEF complaint is my hearing goes. Very high pitched noise in my ears; and it feels as if I am talking in a tunnel when I hear my own voice; or when I hear someone else. It is weird.

So anyway; hadn't had the ear issue in a few months; until last night. I was running karaoke in a bar; and all of a sudden my hearing went. And it was the fullness; dizziness; yet not being able to HEAR anyone; feeling like I was in a tunnel; and it is severe; it is like in a movie when someone is having at attack of something; and everything is muffeled; and all you hear is the pounding/ringing in your ears......it came on suddenly; one moment it was not there; the next moment it was.

It was accompanied by nausea; mild dizziness/vertigo; and tiredness/crankiness.

Somehow I still managed to work; but was getting a bit scared; this was the worst it has ever been.

About 30 minutes later; my hearing returned; but then I felt very shaky; lightheaded; (again; VERY shaking); and weak.

I had the bar give me a sandwich; and it went away.

Although I still feel 'weak' this morning.

I am going to make an appointment. I need a general check up anyway. However; I am thinking this is 'diabetes/hypoglocemia related'. When I was pregnant with my only child; I developed a mild case of gestational diabetes. I was 25 at the time.

So does anything in my post look 'classic' diabetes or hypoglocemic?

My eating habits for the weekend were not bad. I am a slender woman; 5'9; and right now I weigh nearly 130; but I have gained weight in the last few months. I typically weigh about 122. Yesterday; I did not eat much; but had eaten a rice bowl at around 5:30 pm. The 'attack' hit around 10:00 pm over by 11:00 pm.

Also; I noticed that when I drank some water; my hearing improved; but was replaced with the shakiness and dizziness.

Ok; tried to give as much background info as possible; curious as to what you all think.

It was very scary.

Well, that's how I feel when my sugar has gone too low and I'm ready to pass out.

The dizziness, weakness and shaking sound like hypoglycemia symptoms, but the hearing loss does not. You should have your ears checked. You may have an inner ear infection, which would also cause those symptoms, or you could possibly be developing Muniere's disease (a disease of the inner ear). You should definitely see a doctor to have this checked out.
