Yep, I'm afraid that 317 makes you a diabetic. A normal person's blood sugar would never go that high, no matter what they ate. You're probably at the very beginning stages, but you need to take immediate action now. You may be able to control it at this stage with diet and exercise, but if you can't show a definite improvement within a month or so, you may also need some medication to help.
The important thing here is "control". The biggest problem with high blood sugar levels is that it can damage your entire body...all your organs, blood vessels, etc. However, well-controlled diabetics may experience NO complications. You are probably very lucky that it was discovered at this stage, rather than later on, as you can quite probably prevent any complications from ever occurring.
