Re: Car accident damaged pancreas anyone?

Hi, I don't know if I can be of much help but your post certainly rang a bell in my head. Several years ago, my uncle was in a car accident and had his pancreas injured. They told him that due to the injury, he was diabetic but he was able to manage his diet etc., so well that he never even had to take medication. I don't recall him ever being sick from it or any other complications, just watched how he ate and how he cooked. He passed away many years later from something completely unrelated to diabetes.

Re: Car accident damaged pancreas anyone?

Just had surgery in Dec where the surgeon cut the artery to my spleen and had to remove it and while doing that nicked the pancreas, didn't notice and closed me up. Ended up at a larger hospital on a resperator, and in a coma for 3 weeks. Seems the pancreatic fluid poisoned my whole body and was killing me. Still have one drain tube left out of the original 4. Now my glucose level is all out of whack. Doctor put me on Metformin, which I have no idea whether it is working or not.

My husband was in a car accident... and damaged his pancreas. He was on pills for a while, and now takes insulin for his diabetes.
