| Re: I might have diabetes
Hi, ferfyw,
Burning, tingling feet could be symtematic of any number of things from pinched nerves in your back to wearing improper shoes to nerve/circulatory complications, just to name a few.
It is good that you are aware of diabetes though, considering your strong family history of it as well as your experiences with hypoglycemia, and I would tell your doctor of your concerns in this area tomorrow and ask for tests to be performed so you can put your mind at ease. For diabetes, some common bloodwork-related tests: Fasting glucose, HBA1C/A1C test for sure, cholesterol -HDL & LDL, triglycerides, maybe a C-Peptide.
The connection to the feet may or may not be related but tell your doctor about that, too. Your doctor will look at your whole medical history (as well as asking about some close family medical histories), and will determine the best tests required to address any concerns.
The eating of the junk food and not excercising much isn't doing anything positive for you any way you look at it. Now is as good a time as any to start a new lifestyle. At 36, along with your knowledge of diabetes, you already know that the sooner you make some changes for the better, the sooner you can avoid diabetes possibilities, the more your body & mind will love you for it and the better you will feel.
So, get those tests ordered by your doc, make a follow-up appointment for within the week so that you can discuss the results. Write down any questions/concerns you forgot in the first appointment so you can ask them in your next a week or so later. All will be well.
Cheers,
- Vikingirl
