| Re: Pregnant with low sugar count
Christie,
If your numbers are dropping too low, you may need to raise, rather than lower, your carb intake.
I can't answer the question about how the lows affect your baby, but I do know that many diabetics experience strange unexpected highs or lows due to hormonal fluctuations. This is true for the hormonal fluctuations of menstruation, and I would imagine it to be also true for the fluctuations caused by pregnancy, especially at the beginning.
Do you have an obstetrician who is experienced with pregnancy in diabetics? If not, you may want to try to find one. Meanwhile, you should probably stay in very close contact with both your OB and your endocrinologist.
And, CONGRATULATIONS!
Ruth
