This message is for everyone with diabetes. Please understand that diabetes is by no means a simple disease. This malfunction affects so many body characteristics and functions, it's a wonder that a cure can be expected. It's not so simplistic that the pancreas is bad, or the cells resist the insulin. Even to the point that a diabetic's red blood corpuscles are rigid and have trouble passing through the minute intracellular capillaries. If running can lower cholesterol, that's great. Then why did Jim Fixx, who wrote the Book of Jogging, keel over and die of a heart attack? Jogging faddists justify it by saying he would have died sooner if he hadn't jogged. Maybe so, but he didn't have to die at all. My wife is a brittle diabetic that, unknown to us, had a blood lipid profile of C=575, and TG's of 4750. By the time we learned of this, she had a heart attack and had to have a triple bypass. Three months later she had another heart attack and one bypass was found to be plugged. C's and TG's were still 575 and 4750 despite Lipitor. I put her on antioxidants, including Vit. C, E, Selenium, NAC, and BHT. It's been a year, her cholesterol is 795, TG's are 6625, she's a brittle diabetic, and yet her heart is building new collateral arteries and is doing great. She does not have neuropathy, no diabetic ulcers, kidney and liver functions are fine, and the doctors can't believe she's still here. She does have back muscle cramps that she had before we found out about her lipids. Lipids are bad..YES..but the thing that's bad is when the lipids are oxidized. I am working on a paper about my wife's condition that I will share with everyone. It will be in layman's language for all to understand, but it will be a summary of some very complex clinical studies. Until then, take a good antioxidant formulation and 1000 units of vit. E daily. It would have fixed Jim Fixx even if he didn't run. Also pray that our Lord God will give us the wisdom to conquer these problems and this disease. God Bless....Oldguy
