I distinctly remember that 25/30 years ago we used to read that there was no such thing as errection problems, in a physical sense
It was "all in the mind" and as such could be overcome (no pun intended)
Not that I used to read serious medical journals in those days but all the magazine anxiety pages at that time, more or less, promoted the idea that if you did not worry about it everything would be ok.
When you grow up and get diabetes you find out how real it can be.
I have a wonderful wife who is 20 years younger than me and who was so understanding when I started to have severe errectile dissfunction problems about 2 years ago.
Because she was so encouraging I plucked up courage and went to see a specialist (urologie) After doing some test s he decided I was a candidate for Viagra. It kind of worked but to some wierd time scale....not reacting within the hour or so but giving me scarlet flushes and then the next day a headache and on and off throughout the day a semi errection when we made a deliberate attempt to make love.
So for me Viagra was a failure.
Then my doctor told me that we should move on to directly injecting the penis as this physically could not fail. I learned how to inject myself and determined to succeed had no compunction about doing this, although my dear wife was quite distraught at what I had to do. It could work for you so do not be put off. In fact it is no where near as bad as you might imagine
But even though it, supposedly, was impossible not to work for me it was only partially successful. My penis would swell up to about 70% and after about 5 minutes go down again.
Now to the happy part of this story ( in my previous postings about neuropathy I feel guilty of only spreading doom and gloom)
My work takes me to assignments in various parts of the world and from Feb to Dec 2000 I was posted to Taiwan.
One day I picked up some literature talking about Ginseng. Now before you all start to clammer about that well known fact regarding ginseg, let me say it was the claim to help reduce blood sugar levels that attracted me to the idea of trying it.
I thought it would be worth a try and although I was aware of it's sexual claims I more or less put that down to folk lore.
It was expensive to buy....about 45 US for a 30 ml bottle. After taking it for about 3 weeks I did become aware of a sense of well being and then after maybe 2 months or so my penis started to swell up when attempting to make love. My level of neuropathy is such that, although I still have sensation in the outer skin and can achieve orgasm, the core of my penis is numb and I can only check if I have an errection by feeling with my hand. Sometimes when the problem was bad I could achieve orgasm without an errection at all.
Now as I continue to take ginseng twice a day I have regained confidence that I WILL have an errection when ever I feel like it.
Please nobody accuse me of making any commercial plug for ginseng I name no names or manufacturers. From what I have read you need to be careful as some products which claim to "contain" ginseng have no power at all.
If others wish to guide people towards web sites etc, or to comment on my experience please do, but it is important to me that people realise that I am bearing my soul in the hope that it helps someone.
