Evening Primrose oil is high in omega 3 fatty acids, which most of us don't get enough of. It should not affect your bs one way or another. Flax seed oil and Borage oil also contain omega 3 fatty acids and are a lot less expensive.
18 years ago my husband was in a study where half of the people received pills to take that contained olive oil and half received evening primrose oil, then they were switched. complete blood panels were done monthly (no charge)including one at the beginning of the study. At the end of the study everyone was given a years supply of the primrose oil.
The study was to see if there was an improvement in Cholesterol levels and HDL and LDL ratios while taking the primrose oil.
No one knew when they were taking the olive oil or the primrose oil. I still have the lab work and these are the results of my husbands tests.
7/15 83.Total Chol.192 HDL 65 LDL 87, 2.95
9/5/83.. " " 216 HDL 65 LDl 118, 3.32
10/6/83. 184 " 56 " 107, 3.28
11/8/83. 191 " 47 " 114, 4.06
I don't really know that it proved anything
