Hi,

I am 50 and definitely in perimenopause. I was diagnosed with type-2 diabetes about 4 years ago. I take oral meds, which keeps my blood sugar (bs) levels from going too high, but they're always a bit on the high side.

Lately (in the last month especially, but increasingly all year) I've had unexpected plunges in bs levels way below my usual range. The other day it plunged way below the normal range and I almost passed out. No warning other than suddenly becoming extremely hungry. On the Canadian scale, it was 2.8 when the normal range is 4.0 to 6.0. I'm usually in the 7.0 to 10.0 range.

I know my hormones are going wonky (menstrual irregularities, mood swings, brain going AWOL, sleeplessness, hot flashes, night sweats) and this has been much worse in the last month or two especially. I've read that hormone fluctuations can affect bs levels. It's nice if my bs levels are going lower, but when it suddenly dips into serious hypoglycemia, it gets scary.

Has anyone else here ever experienced this? If so, what did you do to stabilise it?
