Good news/encouragement
Hi all, as many of you may know, I was diagnosed with Type II Diabetes in June of this year. Scared the heck out of me because it can be such a nasty disease. I set out to learn all I could and decided to competely change my lifestyle according to the doctors orders. I'm not bragging and I know that many folks don't have the success I'm having. But I just had my 6 month check up and got my A1C results. When diagnosed my A1C was 13.1 and BS average of 376 for the prior three months. At my 3 month check up my A1C was 6.1 and BS of 123. Now, my A1C is 5.8 and BS of 113! Officially I'm off of Glucophage and we'll see how I do. Basically I'm on a "consistent carb" diet of between 45 and 60 grams per meal and an exercise routine that involves weight training, walking and cardio stuff. I've lost 35 pounds and feel great. I share this just so that some of you can know there is hope and this thing (for some of us) can be controlled with a change in lifestyle. Good luck all and keep in touch!
