High blood sugars are definitely a cause of recurrent yeast infections. The problem should be easier to control once you get your blood glucose under control.
However, it should be noted that the condition can exist in the urethra as well as the vagina. If you aren't treated with a systemic medication such as Diflucan, the problem may just keep coming back, because the topical creams cannot be applied to the urethra.
My suggestion would be to give Diflucan a try. I had constant yeast infections for nearly four years; finally, I insisted that my doctor prescribe Diflucan. It got rid of the infection for a couple of years. Also, if you have to take anitbiotics for any reason, you should ask for a prescription for Diflucan at the same time, as antibiotic therapy will usually cause yeast infections, especially in diabetic women.
