Introduction by Newcomer! - Diabetes Message Board

Yes, I'm still new! Here some info. Diabetes 42 years with some problems plus one biggie.
6 needles per day, 10 BS tests per day, 5 bladder catherizations per 24 hours. (neuropathy caused bladder failure.) Trying for several big smiles per day. Severely married for the last 51 years and counting. Live on Vancouver Island BC. Canada, to keep my feet cool. Lack of enough circ. gives me ankle ulcers from time to time. I'm also good looking, I think the diabetes is doing that for me! All the happy smiling icons died on me. Is it something I said? I did not mark the "disable smilies in this post." More later!!

Hello JohnBen, I am a type 1 diabetic. Got it when I was 11 and I am 46 now. Still a battle with me and food. Love to cook and eat. I am on the newer Lantis and Humalog with the novopen. My A1C is 7/8 so I need to work on that. I have had vectrectomys on both eyes BUT see better now with my cataracts removed. I have neuropathy in my feet but if I wear good insoles in good shoes I am fine. I can feel my toes but after being on my feet 16 hours a day my feet get sore and tired. Hey you sound like a sweet person and must have a great wife having to deal with the everyday life of a diabetic. We all are such sweet people. A little too sweet sometimes. Hey diabetis has come a long way since the 60's when the only thing was sugar free hard candy and that was it.

Hello Red, you sound like a real sweet woman!
I have been and are on other boards as well. It is interesting to me to see, that there were 27 people coming by with only one welcome. Good that they show the number that only looked and not posted. You think they are scared of me? Or do they not talk to strangers? I promise, I don't bite. Just had breakfast anyway! All my icons are still retired, no movement at all, anyone knows how to get them dancing again?

Hello JohnBen, WELCOME to this board where people always welcome newcomers. Hope you get some replies and will feel at home after you get to write with some people on her. It may go a bit slow, but they will get there in due time.
