I am also one of those people, I had gestational diabetes with 3 pregnancies, with my last I developed insulin resistance and now the doctors say I have type 1 diabetes. With each of those pregnancies I gained 50 to 70lbs. I also take synthroid and with each doctor I see they want to adjust the dosage. I also tried the Atkins diet, not really understanding how it worked; between the diet and insulin resistance I did lose weight putting myself in a state of ketoacidosis that almost ended my life. I am now on an insulin pump which I think is wonderful. I exercise and eat small meals every two hours I have lost 25lbs. over seven months and feel much better.
I would recommend that if you are on thyroid meds to make sure the dosage is correct, you would be surprised on the difference this can make. I think another factor is how well your diabetes is controlled, I think part of my problem was the bouncing back and forth from high and low. I always thought I ate healthy until I kept a complete diary of the foods I ate, the fat, calorie and carb intake I had really surprised me. These are just a few suggestions that have helped me. Good luck! |
