A badly neglected callus eventually could cause amputation. They're that serious.
If you don't want to see a podiatrist yet, at least visit your grocery store's foot doctor shelves and get some of those donut-shaped self-adhesive pads.
There's even a flesh-colored adhesive tape in case you want to use the pads after they've lost their adhesive. I found a roll at Meijers. We're not allowed to mention a brand name.
Calluses form because of that area of your foot rubbing against something, maybe ill-fitting shoes.
They can get serious. I just got a rigid-sole shoe from the podiatrist which has a deliberate hole in the insole for my bunion/callus. Don't know if it's going to help, and some medicated bandages that are $80 for ten, but last 3 days, you get at a medical supply house, not pharmacies.
