Re: Low insulin but normal fasting blood sugar
The lower the insulin level the better. When you eat something and glucose gets into te blood stream, the pancreas is stimulated to produce insulin, and insulin levesl rise. After fasting, insulin levels should drop right off. A healthy young person should have a fasting insulin of <10. Fasting levels higher than 10 indicate insulin resistance, which is the the underlying problem with type 2 diabetes. So you don't have any insulin resistance. Normal fasting blood glucose is 70 - 90 mg/dl. And a reading of 80 also suggests that you have nothing to be concerned about.
Type 1 since 1977. On Lantus, Novorapid and Actrapid.
