Fasting Blood Glucose Test

I went to a Walk-In clinic Monday because all this year my lips have been chapped. All day, everday and it was really started to aggrivate me, not to mention that it's pretty embarrassing. Also, I had a sore on my face that wouldn't heal. He prescribed me 2 medications, one for my lips and one for the sore and asked me a bunch of questions. If I was thirsty all the time, tired, etc. I said yes to all and I personally suspected that I had anemia because I've been underweight for as long as I can remember and always fatigued. I did mention this to him but he insisted that I go to a lab and get a fasting blood glucose test. I always thought people that have Diabetes are overweight? That's what I couldn't understand. Also, if I don't eat for awhile I start to feel dizzy, almost on the verge of passing out and I get shakey. I also urinate quite frequently. I have to get up at least 3 times during the night to pee and it's not something I can hold til morning, I have to go then and now. I also seem to have like white-faint tissue looking deposits in my urine. Could this all be related to Diabetes? I'm going to the lab tomorrow to get tested so hopefully I should hear from them next week but I just want to get your guy's take on this....Thanks!

Re: Fasting Blood Glucose Test

Type 2 diabetics are often, but not always, overweight when diagnosed. Type 1 diabetics are rarely overweight at diagnosis.

Re: Fasting Blood Glucose Test

3 times a night is not normal, when i went down with type 1 i was weeing every 30 minutes to an hour. Felt very tired lethargic, found myself flopping about and couldnt really see writing.

I'm only 8.5 stone and i lost alot of weight when i was diagnosed so weighed about 7.5 stone lol i got dry lips too and the week after i got out of hospital my gums always bled when i slept, horrible waking up with a mouth full of blood.
