The Zone diet?

Anyone heard of this? Someone alerted me to it today. It sounds like it is a diet consisting ONLY of low GI index carbs/foods, which is what I do anyway, but has a bunch of recipes in it. Also, there was another book I was considering picking up called The Good Carb book by Sandra Woodruff. Anyone familiar with these?

Yes, I looked at it. Like others, it advocates reducing insulin levels, higher proteins and fats (good)... low GI.....basically what we end up doing as diabetics.

I think using their recipes sounds like a good idea. The ones I saw did not give carb counts, maybe some of the books do. I did check some and they seem a little carb heavy for me.

The Atkins books also have some good recipes and do show carb counts.

Do not post info on how to locate commercial websites. If a word is bleeped out when you try to post it, do not try to find a different spelling.
if a name is blocked then it's not allowed due to spamming abuse by that company - do not change the spelling to make it show.

Re: The Zone diet?

Have you guys heard of the vegan diet that Neal Barnard promotes as a way of combatting diabetes? Any success?

I'll be honest, I tried it for a day and had a very hard time. I was starving and my sugars were higher than they usually are.

Re: The Zone diet?

My daughter and I went to meet him a couple of months ago. I told him that my daughter was diagnosed with type 1 and follows, Robert Young's, The pH Miracle for Diabetes and recieved very positive feedback on reversing it. My daughter does not need any medication.
Back to the House of Health I and II are fantastic books for preparing health great tasting foods.
