I am a Type 2 diabetic and my blood sugars have been in a good range for quite some time now, but lately I've been urinating quite frequently -- about 15 times a day. It's not large amounts, but it's not just drips and drabs either. I had a kidney removed due to cancer in December, but the cancer had not spread beyond the kidney. The other kidney is supposedly functioning fine the last time we checked about 2 months ago. Could this be a problem with the diabetes or a kidney problem or what? I don't feel any burning or irritation and the color is clear to light yellow. I'm not drinking a bunch of water or anything, but an example is that this morning I had 2 - 12oz. cans of caffeine free diet coke in about a 4 hour period and went to the bathroom about 7 times. I don't get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom, so it's not keeping me awake. Just concerned about what might be going on. Should I make an appt with my doc?
I would definitely make a doctors appointment to run some tests. I can't say whats causing the frequent urination, however, with only one kidney, I wouldn't take any chances that something might be wrong. I hope they figure it out and that its nothing to worry about.

It's ironic that you posted this b/c I've also been experiencing increased urination for the past 3 weeks or so. I wake up 2-3 times in the middle of the night to go and this never happened in the past.
I was diagnosed with Type II in February. My understanding is that you don't actually spill sugar into your urine until your sugars are out of control (over 200), and the highest I've ever been on one occasion was around 170. Other than that I generally fluctuate between 100 and 125. So I'm not sure if the increased urination is related or not.
Ive been a type I diabetic since age 9, i am 39 now. With no problems, thanfully. Ive not experienced this before, but, i have had increased urination, of course, especially when diagnosed, due to drinking so much water! alot of water! But getting up in the night has not been a problem. Sometimes when I eat chips, or pretzels, the salt will sometimes make me urinate more, but not like you are saying. i do have interstitial cystitis, also, it causes frequent urination, basically, it feels like a bladder infection, only without the infection, but this goes through flare ups. No one knows where it comes from, or how to treat it for a cure. I do have a friend with this, and she is up at least 15 times a night to go to the bathroom. Hope everything turns out well for you.
