Chantix and Diabetes? - Diabetes Message Board

Has anyone been taking Chantix as a stop smoking aide and been recently diagnosed with diabetes? I have read that there may be a connection.
My husband had low blood sugar and all of a sudden now has diabetes since he has been taking the Chantix. Help?

This is weird, because I took it too and was diagnosed after I stopped. I only took it one month because it was expensive.

I have recently been diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes after taking Chantix. Along with that, I have hyperthyroidism. I went from a normal smoker to taking 4 insulin shots per day and two pills to stop my thyroid from overproducing. Chanitx is poison!

No Way!! I was given a blood sugar test (just using a blood sugar monitor) at the Dr in May (before Chantix) and it was good. After 2 months on Chantix, I went to a different Dr - he did an A1C test - and my number was 5.7. He said that this is "pre-diabetes" numbers! Dang Chantix!!
