Question Blood Sugar Levels?

So far I'm not diabetic but I thought I might be so I bought a Glucose Monitor. I tested my glucose level about 2 hours after eating something sweet and it was 89. I've noticed a lot of people mention "2 hours after a meal". Is this 2 hour period (after a meal) when blood sugar levels will peak and then start to decline?

Re: Blood Sugar Levels?

Hi,
I'm not sure about the 2 hours after meal. I was always told take your blood sugar 1 hour after meal and it should be under 180 then check it an hour after that and it should be below 140. The best time to check your blood sugar to find out if you might be diabetic is to check it first thing in the morning, fasting. I'm curious as to why you thought you might be a diabetic? Does it run in your family or were you getting any symptoms?
Good luck.

Re: Blood Sugar Levels?

It doesn't run in my family but I was having some dizzy "moments" which I now believe is due to a mild case of tinnitus. The dizziness was made slightly worse by quick head movements which subsided once the quick movement was stopped. I have since been told that if the dizziness was due to diabetes, holding ones head still for a few seconds would not make it go away.

Re: Blood Sugar Levels?

Day two of my self test:

For lunch I had mac and cheese with an oven baked pork chop and a sugar free lemonade drink. One hour later I tested my blood sugar level and it was 93. Does this seem about right?

Re: Blood Sugar Levels?

simplycurious,
93 is certainly within normal range ( wish mine was as good).
The dizziness can certainly be caused by tinnitus. Have you been checked out by a doctor yet? It really could be any number of things. Keep us posted.
