My husband is very concerned that the doctor is going to put him on more than Metformin next week after his A1c comes back. He started at 10.8 (really!) and has it down to 7.3 since last September. We think it may have gone up some because he was in the hospital with heart troubles (turned out to be a false alarm) about 2 weeks ago. She tests his A1c every 3 months. The goal is 7.0 or less. Do you all think he should prepare for an additional med?

If his eating habits, in terms of carbs, activity level and compliance with meds is consistant and he has been getting AIcs close to a 7.0, I would think the doc would keep him on the same meds/dose.

Sound's like she is monitoring him closely. - And congratulations on getting the AIC down from a 10 range to a 7 range. - That is a big improvement!
