Question Okay, so what am I doing wrong ?

I posted my lab results earlier. I was told by a nurse that everything was normal. I have not been diagnosed as diabetic or prediabetes at this time.

Here are my lab results again: Fasting BG, 90 A1C, 5.7, Average 90 - 120

I am still testing my BG since and I am getting so frustrated.....

This is my sister's meter, actually she sent me two in the mail - AccuChek Advantage. I watched a video online to ensure I was doing it right.

With that said AM I getting errors in reading ??
Can readings change this much ??

I had some higher readings with another meter so switched to see the difference and there was a BIG difference when I first tested.

7/19
About 21/2 hours after eating a very small amount of chinses food.
1:17 pm - 100
1:19 pm - 113
1:52 pm - 144
1:54 pm - 137
6:39 pm - 91

Today after oatmeal (reg. prepackaged with splenda and cinammon) and a bottle of water.
12:59 pm - 146
1:02 pm - 141
1:32 pm - 155

Please help !

Thanks,
RW

Re: Okay, so what am I doing wrong ?

Your readings don't look abnormal at all. You are checking after eating. A nondiabetic can have postprandial (after eating) readings up to 180, although most people are around 140. If your A1c and fasting are fine, you don't need to worry yet. It's possible you are developing some insulin resistance, but given the amount of carbs in the food you are eating (oatmeal is high carb), your numbers are not at all bad. The reason you had a rise in blood sugar 2.5 hours after the chinese food is due to the fat in the food slowing the absorption of the carbohydrate. It's not abnormal.
