You are probably a T2 diabetic, most likely in the earlier stages. A1c's and BG readings are not good or bad, honestly. They are merely a piece of data that allows you to figure out if you need to eat more or take more medication. There is a huge misconception that highs and lows are bad and they are the patient's fault. They aren't. You will probably be put either on oral meds or control with diet at this point. Good luck!
I agree with Wallis...that fasting number is definitely indicative diabetes. Could be either type, depending on other factors such as your age and weight. But you do need to see a doctor, get a diagnosis, and start learning how to manage diabetes.
And Wallis...I just loved what you said about "good" and "bad"...those terms are SO judgemental, and that's never helped anyone, as far as I know!
I work at a kids camp, and parents are always drilling into the kids that there number is bad. So they check, are high and automatically feel terrible about themselves. They don't understand that highs and lows are just a part of the disease they have. They are inevitable no matter what you do sometimes. We try and teach them that a number is just a number.
