I have not been diagnosed as of yet with diabetes, but after displaying most of the symptoms I borrowed my dad glucose test kit for a couple of days. Here is what I have a problem with. My fasting glucose in the past 2 mornings has been 154 yesterday and 197 today. I know this is high----but during the day other reading seem fine. What does this mean? Should I be concerned enough to bring this to the attention of my doctor. My biggest problem is lack of insurance so I have to pick and choose my illness carefully. Thanks for any info.
Yes, I would certainly bring this illness up to the doctor. As you said, readings of 150 and 200 ( I rounded) are high, especially for fasting BG. I don't have T2, but as many people on these boards will tell you, fasting BG is the last thing to go. Once you have high fasting, you are definitely diabetic (unless the highs are caused by something else, like medication). Good luck!
Well, diabetes is a "good" illness to pick if you are uninsured. Because you can, most likely, control your diabetes with no medication from the stage you are at for years to come by diet and exercise alone. Knowledge and education is the key to it, and don't leave your doctor out of the loop. He/she can provide you with good help on this.
Your readings for fasting blood sugar are too high, they should be between 80 and 130. I would go to the doctor, the sooner the better. I was a diet controlled diabetic for six years, two months ago my blood sugar went crazy and we are still trying to stabilize..good luck to you.
