Blood Sugar 105 one hour after eating...okay?

Hi all... I just got done eating lunch one hour ago... haven't taken my blood sugar in weeks. Anywho... I started having an unbelievable headache... and my eyes grew blurry and focusing became difficult. I feel lethargic and out of sorts. I took my blood sugar and it read 105. May I add I am not a diagnosed hypoglycemic or diabetic. I believe 105 is totally normal... but one hour after eating is this too low, or is this okay?

THANKS!

It's pretty low. Coupled with your symptoms, I would guess that you were hypoglycemic before eating.

The one episode does not support a diagnosis of chronic hypoglycemia, however.

It doesn't mean much. It depends on what you started at and what you ate. I am diabetic, never hypo and I can be at 105 1 hour after dinner, if I started at 90ish and I ate something high in fiber or low GI and not too much of it.

But it doesn't seem like your symptoms correlate to your blood sugar level.

I ate a frozen pizza. Does that make a difference? I tested one other time after eating and two hours from that time it was 140. Now one hour after its 105. Strange?

No, it's not strange....and yes, it does make a difference... Pizza might have some fatty stuff, like pepperoni or sausage, and usually has mozzarella, a fatty cheese topping. Fat causes sugar metabolism to slow down.... if you eat something fatty, the sugar output comes later in time than if you eat a corresponding amount of low-fat carbohydrate. So your one-hour reading is on the "upswing" and, with pizza, I'll bet it's still high (or maybe higher than) 140 at three hours.

And, I read your first post to say that you felt the symptoms before you ate.
Perhaps, on second read, I didn't interpret right. If you felt the symptoms when you read 105, itotito is correct....the symptoms don't correlate.
