I read in another post about the weight some have gained from their basal insulin. I believe there is now another basal insulin on the market that is known to not cause the same weight gain. Apparently in every study they did looking at weight, they showed that insulin detemir- a basal insulin does not cause as much weight gain as other basal insulins. It too is a once a day insulin. It has been on the market for almost 3 years.
