Unfortunately, no one can tell how it'll affect each individual, but I can tell you that it's a fairly low dose. It's much more common to be on it twice a day...1,000 units at least, and many people are on 2,000 units a day.
But, with metformin, it is best to start at a very low dose (like 500) and increase it gradually. That helps to avoid the GI upsets that are so common with this medication.
