I don't know if it's the magnesium, but I have a feeling it does make a difference.

Re: Does Magnesium lower blood sugar

I've been taking 400 mg of Magnesium Citrate twice a day and I noticed a big difference in better blood sugar control. Plus I sleep better. I may not have diabetes but my blood sugar is the reason behind seizures I have had. The Magnesium seems to help with my blood sugar level more than I expected it to.

Re: Does Magnesium lower blood sugar

Hope you got my thanks for your post, stevefromsd...and I had a question; how long had you been taking the magnesium citrate before you noticed a difference? I am taking a psych med that raises my blood sugar, and my med doctor noticed my blood sugar was 10 points over normal after a fasting blood test. I need my psych med to control my schizo so I'm looking for a way to lower by blood sugar. I don't eat much sugary things, except for my coffee creamer, and I've been on a "no-carbs" diet for a couple of months. So I would appreciate any light you can shed on this issue. Thank you!!

It only took about a week of taking 400 mg twice a day to notice a difference.

Re: Does Magnesium lower blood sugar

Thanks steve...I got some magnesium today; the pharmacist said it won't interact with anything I currently take now & he showed me how much liquid is in a 400 mg dose. I have another blood test coming up in a few weeks and am looking forward to a normal blood sugar reading. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!!

Re: Does Magnesium lower blood sugar

The magnesium citrate seems to be working!! I had a reading of 91 this morning, as opposed to my lab reading a few weeks ago of 109. I am not getting the diarrhea side effect of the stuff, either, hooray!!

Re: Does Magnesium lower blood sugar

Keep in mind that magnesium and chromium are virtually ineffective in Type 1 diabetes.
