| Re: Diabetes
Diabetes affects everyone in a lot of different ways, martbates. My parents are both T2 and while my dad gets up 3-4 times a night to use the bathroom, my mother usually sleeps right through. And while my dad has a hard time gaining weight (he loses it like you wouldn't believe) my mom has a very hard time keeping it off. Dad's on insulin and my mom's still on metformin (although there's been talk of adding something else in there since she's been on it for a while).
I have T1 and I don't tend to get up at all throughout the night to use the bathroom, although when I HAVE to go, I HAVE to go, and I do find my bladder won't hold a whole lot.
Diabetes also affects people in different ways. My dad's eyesight has deteriorated quite a lot, while mine are still perfectly sharp and I've been diabetic longer. However, a few years ago I had some proteins in my urine and was diagnosed with mild kidney damage. My dad's kidneys (despite not taking care of himself all that well) are fine. So, it really does just depend on the person.
