Pre Diabetes and Exercise
I recently was diagnosed as pre-diabetic with a fasting blood sugar at 5.8. I'm sure it would have been worse but I had started a diet and exercise program about three months ago so I'm sure that helped the number go down. The doctor didn't give me any diet or exercise plan and only said to have it rechecked in six months. The problem is that I have been getting very dizzy especially after exercising on the tread mill and whenever I haven't eaten for long periods. After I eat I feel much better about fifteen minutes later. I would appreciate any advice about the best time to exercise--before or after a meal--and what is the best thing to have? I eat a lot of almonds for my diet, have totally cut out putting sugar in my coffee/tea, I try not to eat many sweets: eek: Also if you could recommend a good diabetic diet plan?
BTW, my father is a severe diabetic since age 40; I am 46 and about 15 pounds more than I should be. Thanks for any advice!
