| Re: Anyone taking glipizide and if so, for how long?
I don't currently take it, but did for about a 3-year period sometime ago before my diabetes progressed into insulin dependence.
At that time, I could successfully maintain HbA1cs with no drugs, only diet and exercise. That, of course, is in the past for me now....but probably not for you.... you are on a light dose of it and about half the metformin you could take, you could probably drop the glipizide and only take the metformin by reducing your carbs, and maybe adding some exercise. Or maybe increase the metformin if you need to.
All drugs have side effects. Your doctor obviously has the opinion that glipizide will do you more good than harm at this point. If you hold your HbA1c good without it, your doctor will agree it's better not to take it....I think....
